The scale platform refers to the part of the scale that you stand on. For some scales like a wheelchair scale the platform will be quite large and may be set into the floor. If you are purchasing a scale for yourself make sure that the platform is large enough that you can stand comfortably and steady. Try cutting out a section of paper or cardboard and placing it on the floor. See if you can place your feet together in this area and if you feel steady.
Most infant scales will have a tray instead of a platform. See the section on scale tray below.
